Great writing! I recently read this book by Mark Fisher, about how the aesthetic of strangeness is not only an effect of technology or social life but also very deeply ontological. (Interesting also since Fisher is primarily known for writing Capitalist Realism, against the ‘system in which the human hand is detached’, which you also highlighted)
Thanks dude, good to hear from you! Super interesting. Capitalist Realism has been on my list for a bit so this is great, you're giving me a good nudge in the direction of both of these books.
Fantastic essay thanks
Excellent assessment. Really enjoyed reading this.
